Multiple Sclerosis is a slow progressive central nervous
system disease characterized by areas of demyelination in the brain and spinal
cord resulting in multiple and varied neurological symptoms and signs, usually
with remission and exacerbations. Treatments may look at underlying causes if
immune system hyperreactivity to the myelin sheath which causes demyelination.
Other therapeutics may be the use of vitamins and minerals which may be
involved in the repair of the myelin sheath. Certain dietary changes might be
implemented into the treatment plan. Increasing specific lipids found in the
brain may also help with healing the nervous system.
